Knitted Bear Sweaters, Etc.

This little guy is going to be a present for my Aunt Mazie to thank her for taking such good care of my mom as she recovers from her bypass surgery. Notice his little butt flap with buttons.

I'm not sure how I got started doing this, or even when. But something I really enjoy a lot is knitting fine garments for bears and other assorted critters, using really fine yarns. Working on something that small, I don't have time to get bored with it. And since I usually only need a skein or two, I can afford to buy the fancy expensive yarns. My favorite kinds of bears are the Boyd's bears, but they're getting harder and harder to find in a nekkid kind of state - they usually come all dressed and/or decorated.

I've given lots of these away and haven't kept pictures, but these are some of the ones I have lying around....

This moose is wearing an entrelac sweater. This one is knitted with all one yarn, but I've made lots of these in several different colors, where each row of squares is a different color. This sweater is one of my favorites to knit.
This guy is my furrocious dragon. I'm not sure why, but he wanted a dragon suit.
This sweater really doesn't photograph well. In fact, it doesn't seem to look good on any of my bears. But it's knitted out of the most luscious, soft silk yarn. I did most of this sweater in the car, while traveling to West Virginia to go white water rafting with my boyfriend (now husband) in August 2001.
A few more sweaters that don't especially photograph well. The purple one on the elephant has cables and other fancy stitches; the pig's sweater is more of a Norwegian pattern.
