The
Knight of Swords is a strong, independent thinker--he
makes decisions quickly and logically, often appearing
to jump into things "half-cocked" to the more
methodical thinkers around him. However, the Knight is
so convinced of his own intellectual acuity, that the
opinions of others are irrelevant to his decision making.
The first picture that came into my mind for this card
was Mr. Spock, the inimitable Vulcan science officer of
the original Star Trek series. His logical thought processes
frequently confounded his fellow crewmembers, but his
mental superiority was unchallenged. Like Mr.Spock, the
Knight of Swords is often perceived as cold and emotionless
by those who do not understand his mental focus. If you
look closely, you'll discover that my Knight has pointed
ears - my personal tribute to a childhood hero.
The Knight charges toward the source of the light, even
though it is beyond his field of vision. He is confident
in his ability to overcome any trials and reach the source.
Surrounding the knight are mathematical logic symbols,
representing the Knight's ability to reduce a problem
to its component parts and solve it logically. His horse,
a fiery, winged steed, symbolic of the uncontrolled elements
of fire and air representing the Knight and Swords, is
firmly held in check by the reins, as its wild power is
harnessed for his logical ends.
