The Seven of Cups can be interpreted in different ways.
One is as an obsession with fantasies. Another, as a need
to make choices, to commit to a path. My interpretation
of the card blends these two meanings to show the variety
of choices and dreams available to the post-feminist woman.
The only problem is wanting to do them all at once.
Traditionally this card shows riches or fantasies in
each of the cups. I wanted to show the many options that
are now possible, and to emphasize that more options mean
making a more deliberate choice. The outermost cup holds
the Yin-Yang symbol, a symbol of balance, which has become
the new impossible dream.
This idea came to me in an "aha" moment and
required very little work to develop the final design,
perhaps because I am still struggling myself with the
desire to have it all right now.
